Sugar Cookies

Mix thoroughly:

• 1/2 cup butter
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together & stir in:

• 2 cups flour
• 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt

Roll into small balls & press down with a glass dipped in water & colored sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes.

This recipe is really simple to make, and the colored sugar makes the cookies look festive, as well as great tasting!
