IRENE'S STUFFED CABBAGE
ROLLS
- 1 large head cabbage (3 - 3 1/2 lbs.)
- 2 lbs. ground beef OR meat loaf mix
- 3 slices white bread
- 4 tsp. grated onion
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 jar (pint) spaghetti sauce
Rinse and cut core from cabbage, put cabbage
in large pot of boiling water and boil 5 minutes. Carefully separate
and drain leaves. Put bread slices in a large bowl with a little
warm water, squeeze and crumble, add meat, onion, salt and nutmeg,
mix thoroughly. Take each leaf and spoon about 2 Tbsp. of meat
mixture at one end of leaf and roll up. Place end down in pyrex
dish, pour spaghetti sauce over cabbage rolls, sprinkle with
brown sugar.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
