Mother's Applesauce Cake

1 cup canned applesauce
1/2 cup Wesson oil
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Combine applesauce, brown sugar and Wesson oil,
Mix thoroughly, sift dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Add raisins and nuts. Stir in applesauce mixture and blend well.
Pour batter into greased and floured 9"x 9"x 2" baking pan.

 

Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, or until cake tests done.

Mom used to make this cake on Sundays. It still is a special family favorite!
